Engineering Overview
Autoreel PLW machines use a patented design concept that replaces the traditional shaft and utilises pintles to support the cable drum, making loading very easy, reducing heavy handling, and increasing the efficiency of one-man operation.
Every model in the range is available in two configurations: PLW and PLP. The PLW is the powered take-up winder β it drives and rotates the drum to pull and wind material on. The PLP is its braked pay-off (de-reeler) counterpart, sharing the same shaftless pintle-loading arms and one-man floor loading, but fitted with a controlled brake instead of a drive motor so it feeds material off the drum under tension rather than winding it on. The two are commonly paired β a PLP de-reeling the master supply drum while a PLW takes up the finished reel β and every model size (1000 through 8000) is offered in both forms, with the PLP's shorter machine depth reflecting the absence of the drive housing (see the technical table below).
The PLW cable winding machine layout gives the operator a clear view and full monitoring of the operation from a single station. Easier loading and operation mean faster turn-around and thus make an important contribution to the economy of the winding process. For this reason, the PLW/PLP series is especially suitable for multi-product, continual usage, or large volume applications.
Autoreelβs PLW/PLP series cable winding machines incorporate modern state-of-the-art technology using a combination of electrical and hydraulic power. The series is designed for use with electrical cable, wire rope, telephone cable, flexible hose, and similar reel form materials. The machines accept all standard Autoreel attachments. Autoreel PLW/PLP cable winding machines are built for heavy-duty usage and are available in drum weight capacities up to 8,000kg and drum diameters of up to 2,600mm.
